Twas the day of insemination, and inside my house
My human was rushing to put on a blouse!
UPS put the semen by the front door with care,
In hopes that my tummy would babies soon bare!

My people were nestled all snug in their truck
While visions of puppies were running amuck!
We arrive at the clinic, cooled-semen in hand,
High hopes that the vet would fill the demand!

While the semen was warming, it took quite a while!
My eggs to be fertilized by a bulldog of style!
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear?
The prospect of puppies as my vet drew near!

I rested so calm and quiet you see,
I must nurture the semen that is inside of me!
Four weeks we must wait to get confirmation,
To see if this breeding begins the creation!

When over the phone there arose such a clatter,
The vet did jump to find out what was the matter!
Our doctor did urge for my mom to be steady,
When he heard her yell, “Our babies are ready”!

Gestation will take about 63 days,
When my temperature drops, make haste, no delays!
A C-section is done to assist the arrival,
My family will cheer with each puppy’s survival!

We raise each puppy with love and devotion,
Through sleepless nights, play, and commotion.
While they are growing much learning is done.
Each puppy is socialized with compassion and fun!

The time they spend here is at a bittersweet end,
New families arriving to meet their new friend.
We are not losing this puppy so don’t shed a tear,
But gaining more family and will hold you just as dear!
